Things to ConsiderMy ability to make face painting look easy comes from many years of practicing my craft and investing in high quality materials and training. Yes, I’m naturally artistic. Hand me and a pencil and paper and I can create an amazing lifelike replication of almost anything within my visual scope. But, being able to draw doesn’t make face painting super easy. In fact sketching allows me quite a few luxuries that face painting does not. For example; I’m able to invest hours into a sketch and often this sketch is erased, re-imagined, erased again….and so on. With face painting I have 3-5 minutes to paint a moving target! I make this point because I’m often contacted by well-meaning people who have seen what I do and they would like for me to teach their artistic cousin, niece, son, daughter, or friend to face paint. Or perhaps a community organization has a team of volunteers they would like for me to train because I make it look so easy. Of course I help out when I can, directing them to resources like FABATv or the Face Paint Forum; as those are the resources I utilized when I first started my face painting journey. In most cases people quickly realize this IS NOT as easy as I make it appear. This is when some realize face painting is best left to the professionals. BudgetSuppliesIncluded in my hourly rate is the extensive selection of professional face paints, adhesives, glitters, brushes, wipes, sponges, etc. These are the things I need to create A-mazing designs. Be wary of anyone planning to use or suggesting you use acrylic craft paints. They are non-toxic NOT skin safe. ![]() The average price for the smallest professional grade face paint cake is $7. So even if someone invests in a basic rainbow face painting kit it will cost you at least $56 for paints ONLY! Sure $56 seems cheap in comparison to the market rate for face painters of $75-$125 per hour; just remember you haven’t purchased your brushes, sponges, wash bin, glitter…….. TimeThere’s this little thing we professional face painters love and that’s muscle memory! Our repeated experience creating popular face paint designs like tigers, butterflies, and roses makes us able to churn these out fabulously in 3-7 minutes with ease. Trust me I’ve seen volunteers and amateur face painters spend 10 minutes creating a mediocre tiger. Sure you saved money hiring an amateur or an inexperienced artist but only 6 people were painted in an hour! Most professional face painters have the skills, experience, and supplies to create 10-15 elaborate full face designs per hour. Long story short; don’t let sticker shock deter you from hiring a professional face painter. Realize the value and long-term savings when hiring a professional. SafetyI’m sure safety is not the 1st thing that crosses your mind when you consider hiring a professional face painter for your event; but it should. Say NO to acrylic paintIt’s paint, and the label says non-toxic so it should be okay to use for face painting? Nooooo, please understand that non-toxic does not equal skin safe. Non-toxic simply means if ingested it isn’t poisonous. Someone suggesting using acrylic paints in place of professional grade face paints is a big indicator that you should hire a pro! Acrylic paints are frowned upon simply because professional face paints have been tested and approved by the FDA as cosmetics to be used on the skin; acrylic craft paints have not! DOJ checks, background check, references, etc.Hiring a trusted and professional face painter can give you a piece of mind in knowing that you and your guests will be safe. We’re invited into your home, community center, and school. We’re often left unsupervised with children; so you definitely want to be sure that you’re hiring someone who is trustworthy. As Evolutionz Face & Body Arts owner CaBeatrice Hart has a solid reputation which you can verify from many of the positive reviews from previous customers. Additionally, I’m hired by several community organizations that require federal pre-screening of my credit, work, and criminal history. I’ve passed them all! Reputation
Everyone will thank you for it and they do so by sharing photos from your event on social media! Children are blunt and honest! I can personally state that on multiple occasions children have said to me, “You’re wayyyyy better than the “face painter” that was here last year! VolunteersI’m often contacted the day of an event by the event organizer because A.) The inexperienced and unreliable face painter didn’t show up or cancelled or B.)The volunteers didn’t show up. Understand that for a professional face painter this is how we earn our living. We show-up on time for our “Job”. Seamless & Stress Free
Once you assign value to your time, your guest’s safety, and your reputation it is more than enough to help you decide that hiring a professional face painter for your event is the only option!
